Media Manipulation

Dumbing down is  the deliberate oversimplification of intellectual content within  education, literature, cinema, news, video games and culture in order to  relate to those unable to assimilate more sophisticated information. (from Wikipedia)
Media manipulation is a series of related techniques in which partisans create an image or argument that favours their particular interests. Such tactics may include the use of logical fallacies and propaganda techniques, and often involve the suppression of information or points of view by crowding them out, by inducing other people or groups of people to stop listening to certain arguments, or by simply diverting attention elsewhere. In Propaganda: The Formation of Men's Attitudes, Jacques Ellul writes that public opinion can only express itself through channels which are provided by the mass media of communication-without which there could be no propaganda.

trump starts the morning by proposing to throw the media out of the White House
Mark Sumner  Daily Kos Staff  May 09, 2018
It’s a very neat equation. Anything negative about Trump is automatically “Fake.” So rather than have Sarah Huckabee Sanders run out every day and face, you know, questions … wouldn’t it be simpler to just take away the media’s credentials? Except, of course, for Fox News and select alt-right websites. Free up some space for the Enquirer. More

Washington’s ‘governing elite’ think Americans are morons By Jeff Guo
“Many civil servants expressed utter contempt for the citizens they served,” they write in their book, “What Washington Gets Wrong.” “Further, we found a wide gulf between the life experiences of ordinary Americans and the denizens of official Washington. We were left deeply worried about the health and future of popular government in the United States.” More
“alt-right” defined for what it is!!
